Today we visited a new school that we were supposed to visit last week but due to the unexpected rain we were unable to, the journey today showed us why.
When we arrived we found that the school was being used as a voting station for a national vote (not totally sure what they were voting for) but we set up our mats on the field and commenced with the various activities of the day.
The morning seemed to go rather slowly as we were all shattered and achey from the brick chucking yesterday, however this did not dampen our spirit (much).
Today we also encountered many small thieves. These include one boy who tried to smuggle scissors, pencils, paper and glue inside his coat and another boy who tried to take a book, he was appropriately named Innocent. Coincidence? We think not!
We are now all relaxing in and by the pool for the final time before we pack up and leave Fisherman's rest for good. Currently a very intense game of pool rounders is going on and were sure some people are trying to twist the rules to their advantage. Nevertheless everyone is thoroughly enjoying themselves!
We are also looking forward to our chicken and chips tonight prepared by our fabulous chefs for today, Chante, Chloe and Laura in their turn for the come dine with me challenge.
Later we will be joining Wictor and the other fisherman's rest residents for a camp fire with marshmallows

Dear Ickytoria and the other Impalas, I'm struggling enough with poor internet connection in outer Yorkshire, combined with the stress of 24 hours a day with Ed! Well, that's my excuse for not following, and I'm sticking to it. Glad to see all the good work you are doing for a community less fortunate than ourselves. have a great last week. Will be back to civilisation ion in Kent soon and able to follow every word without relying on a backed bean tin and a piece of string. Love from Dad and Ed.

ReplyDeleteYour past few days sound fab and we're glad to hear you are using the pool to eradicate brick dust ;-)
We went to Howletts yesterday and saw some Impalas and gingery African monkies - we tried to send secret messages to you via the jungle drums but the journey might be long to Malawi you might leave before the message arrives.... Worth a try though!!!
We also saw some fine examples of taxidermy Impalas at the museum in London today but didn't try talking to them!
Hope your last book bus day is memorable for you all and you thoroughly enjoy the well-earned next bit of your adventure :-)
Lucy - I think the letter bits I did with your crazy niece & nephew are coming up soon in your pack - hope they are fun for you to share x x x

All's quiet here - Joseph is in bed, Alice went to Izzy's for lunch and is still there - it's 10pm! And Dad is on the laptop upstairs working. Even Archie is quietly asleep - no snoring yet! Good to hear Lottie still has some chocolate left- surprised it hasn't melted yet. Sorry to say that your DAd has been quietly tucking into a stash of Dairy Milk I had hidden for you at home- but he promises to replenish it and more before you get home.

David, Pat and Luke had a great time in Egypt, spending 2 weeks in the aqua park. Luke brought a toy camel back for Granny.

It has been a real pleasure to read all these blogs and to enjoy a small insight into all these brilliant experiences you all worked so hard to achieve.I am sure that all your families are as proud of you as we are!!
We really hope you have a fantastic last day on the Book Bus and can recharge your batteries for what should be a rather enjoyable week gadding about in the wilds at the mercy of the local wildlife!!
A word of advice - warthogs are not nice little piggy- wiggies with a difference....they are definitely pork with an attitude problem or two!!
How is your weather now? I hate to say it but here in leafy Surrey there has been some sort of liquid precipitation the likes of which hasn't been seen for weeks if not months - whilst the Southern Jessies may indeed be aghast at this no doubt temporary state of affairs, it does not trouble this ere Lancastrian nor his Yorkshire wife ( except I have told her she can't scrub the steps until its really raining hard so we can save water)Your brother who was of course born in Epsom suggested the butler may assist!!
Will there be any more blogs whilst you are travelling _ I am assuming wi -fi may be non existent for the forthcoming week. If so, then we will all ( yes now including Alfred freshly - well perhaps not so fresh- back from his hols and snoring away like your mother over there in the corner - him I mean) love you and leave you to enjoy the third best week in a row of your lives.

ReplyDeleteCan't quite believe that the book bus experience is coming to an end, but now its time to 'kick back' a little and enjoy the safari experiences that will come next.
I have had a lovely few days with Si, Sooze and Orla - she is so funny and cheeky ! We have fed ducks, had ice cream and lots of cuddles. All in Herts send their love X At home, I went to the Natural History museum with the Thanet tribes and had a good day looking at the many stuffed versions of the animals you will see for real ! (maybe not the duck billed platypus!) Katy loved it! The boys loved the dinosaur skeletons and both now have dinosaur lunch boxes to start school with. Dad survived without me ...I think...
I guess it won't be so easy to keep in touch over the next few days, but this blog has been brilliant, so I am looking forward to seeing the diary.
So in the words of Winnie the Pooh, just remember as you start the next part of your adventure...

Well done Impalas - as your Book Bus experience draws to a close - a whole week of new, fun experiences awaits! We have so enjoyed your Blogs and we will miss them. Perhaps when you have all returned we can learn a bit more of 'the gritty truth and dirt dishing' of exactly what has gone on........or have you all made a pact not to tell any stories about the marshmallows and the machete incident!!! (not that there has been a marshmallows and machete incident - I just made that up!).

Jake has returned from his 2 week cadet camp and survived !! he looks a bit peeky though and needs fattening up. ReplyDeleteHave a great last week on safari, we will miss all of your postings too. Granddad requested yet again, that you take lots of photos so he can reminisce when you get home. DON'T FORGET! It will certainly be the highlight of his year.
Ensure you make good friends in particular with the Meadows young lady. Butlers come in very handy I feel. (And Catherine, try not to offend too many more people - your sister was a little upset, being born in Sussex herself!).

I hope Abbie has seen all our comments - it would be good to know and that you are okay as you have rarely been mentioned in the posts and don't appear to have written any yourself.
If you will not have access to wifi next week, perhaps all of you could post a comment for your families, like you did in the first week? (I am not missing you at all you understand!!)
We are off to Brownie hols on Sunday and have all the equipment piled up in the hall as usual!! I shall be Winnie the Poohd out by this time next week....and probably rather tired! :-)
